About Jackass Rapid
The river splits at a cobble bar with the primary channel going left. In the middle of this channel is a large rock shelf, which if you’re not working aggressively right, can easily perch you. Deep, fast water surrounds this rock meaning if you get stuck you might have some trouble getting off. As the water drops, this right move around the rock shelf becomes increasingly harder.
At higher flows, taking the right channel at the top cobble bar is open and effectively allows you to sneak the main feature.
At medium and high flows there is a hole located at the bottom of the rapid, which can easily surf a 14 foot boat. An error that occurs here is you think you’re done with the rapid and then drop into this sticky hole unaware and end up surfing and swimming.
