Ram’s Head Rapid is a long, fun rapid, with a ton of features to avoid and/or punch. The rapid begins at the river comes out of a left bend, and ends as the river curves back to the right. The name Ram’s Head comes from a rock that resembles the head of ram at the entrance of the rapid on the left-hand side.

How to run Ram’s Head Rapid

Ram’s Head Rapid begins with a Class II-III moves through numerous rocks and waves, which can become large waves at higher flows. The rapid is mostly run left-of-center to avoid rocks, large waves holes on the right. The rapid makes a sharp bend to the right at the exit of this rapid. There is an eddy below this rapid, which can be used to set safety.
