The Kern River Trail starts across the street from the dirt parking lot at Delonegha Bridge in the Kern Canyon on the 178 Highway. The trail follows the Kern River and is littered with wildflowers in the spring. This hike is perfect for kids, dogs, mountain bikers and horseback riders.
On the trail, you will hike parallel to the river but there is no river access. Keep in mind that the trail has little to no shade and the dry climate can make for a difficult hike in the summer months. Rated as moderate, this 6.2 out and back trail is the perfect outing especially in the spring when there are wildflowers, the rolling hills are green and the local roaming cows have calves.
