209 Mile Rapid

This rapid is known for turning rafts over not so much because it’s particularly difficult, but more so because the oarsman isn’t paying attention. And it makes sense too. You’re 30 miles downstream of Lava Falls and you’ve likely been in a flotilla or just mindlessly rowing through the canyon. In addition to that, the boat flipping feature is hard to spot from the top of the rapid and you can’t just push away from it – you need to throw some strong pulls together to avoid it. Again though, if you know where you are, you shouldn’t have any issues.

209 Mile Rapid features a large standing wave / hole towards the bottom right of center. Most of the fast moving current is flowing right into it. Enter the rapid left and keep pulling hard left until you’ve cleared the feature.
