Muro de los Lamentos – Wall of Sorrow. The torrential rain and flooding in 2021 turned this nothing rapid into a large Class IV. For the next two years it was a challenging rapid that caused numerous flips. Today, after more flooding, the rapid has mellowed out some but can still be tricky.
The water here enters a right channel and then pushes into a rock slide coming from the right wall. This rockslide has undercuts, so it’s important you make the move back left. The move is easy to spot, but can be challenging to make. At high flows, some of the debris rocks are buried, causing large hydraulics, at all water flows keep moving left.
