Upper Gauley River is Online

The Gauley River is a world-renowned river for its challenging and fun rapids. Sporting 5 Class V rapids in under 10 miles, you’d be hard-pressed to find another river with as much action packed into such a small package as the Gauley.

Each fall, Summersville Dam releases water downstream, solely for the purpose of recreation. These releases are celebrated by the descent of thousands of whitewater enthusiasts of all shapes and sizes for an event known as Gauleyfest.
