A jump in intensity from the South Fork of the American, the Middle Fork of the American River is now online.
The Middle Fork of the American River mixes stretches of continuous Class IV whitewater with long stretches of scenic Class I-II whitewater, as well as mixing in infamous Class VI Ruck-a-Chucky Falls. While it’s not unique in Sierra rivers for its mining history, it’s the only one where you can boat through a tunnel created by dynamite. This is a classic run in California, and it’s sure to get your heart pumping.
